Feline Joint Health Granules

The proprietary flavoring used to make these Granules so tasty is Pala-Tech’s roast beef and liver flavor, that is derived from a hydrolyzed soy protein. There is no real beef in the product, so the Granules can be administered to cats that may have a food allergy. In addition, fish oil is included in the formulation to provide beneficial omega-3 fatty acids, so the overall flavoring of the Granules is labeled as a “fish liver” flavor cats love eat.

This product also includes omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to provide anti-inflammatory benefit, so this is a logical ingredient to include in a joint health supplement. In addition, L-glutamine has been added to the formulation, which is an amino acid found in muscle tissue. L-glutamine will improve muscle strength and endurance and will stimulate the cat’s immune system to boost the cat’s immune response, which is beneficial to help keep the cat health, especially with older cats.

Chondroitin sulfate is a component of the viscous fluid found in all joint capsules. Pala-Tech uses methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) as an alternative to chondroitin sulfate and is a dietary source of sulfur. Since MSM is a small molecule, it is readily and rapidly absorbed and transported to the joint capsule. If the cat needs chondroitin sulfate, the MSM will provide the joint and body with the sulfur building blocks so the cat can make its own chondroitin sulfate, if that is what the joint needs. If the joint is not deficient in chondroitin sulfate, then the cat can use the MSM to make other sulfur containing beneficial nutrients, such as amino acids, vitamins and immunoglobulins. This way, the MSM is not wasted and provides broader benefits to the cat. On the other hand, the ingredient chondroitin sulfate is a relatively large molecule and the absorption from the cat’s stomach and the transport of this compound to the joint capsule is questionable. Also, if the joint is not deficient in chondroitin sulfate, what happens to this ingredient…it is not used by the cat and is therefore wasted. Pala-Tech uses MSM instead of chondroitin sulfate, since it has broader clinical benefits and will be a more overall beneficial ingredient for the cat.

Creatine monohydrate is included in the formulation to help strengthen, tone and firm the cat’s muscles, which are supporting the cat’s joints. Therefore, our formulation is a musculoskeletal supplement, instead of just a joint supplement, providing more comprehensive and beneficial results. Having strong and supportive muscles will help the health of the cat’s joints.
